Dubs and I hiked up Arthur Seat a couple days ago. It is the highest point in the area, over looking the entire new city and old city of Edinburgh, along with the surrounding land and the ocean to one side. We picked the perfect day to hike up the mountain; the clear blue sky allowed us to see so far out.
The new city is where my university and flat is located, along with the majority of the pubs and clubs.
Above, the white buildings in the bottom of the picture is mostly flats, one of which I live in. Also in the pictures is Edinburgh Castle.
Below is the old city and Hollyrood Palace, where the Queen of England resides when she comes to visit Scotland.
We spent about two hours on the hike. The actual hike did not take very long, maybe 20 minutes up the smaller side, and another half hour up to the highest point.
There are multiple paths leading up, at one point we decided it would be more exciting to climb our own way. Coming down was much faster, we made it a little more interesting by climbing down some steeper parts. The ice and snow made it a bit more challenging as well.
A few others wanted to climb it too but couldn't that day so if tomorrow is nice out, we are going to hike it again with them. Well worth it!
Chad- What amazing pics! I love the one on the mountain from afar. Sounds and looks like you are settling in nicely. So excited to be a part of your experiences. hugs
