Five coastal cities of Italy...

Arguably the most beautiful part of Italy we traveled to was Cinque Terre, "The Five Lands."  We hiked along the coast from the first village of Riomaggiore to the second village, Manarola.  The views of Manarola from a distance were stunning.  Normally one could continue hiking along the coast to the next three villages; however, due to recent landslides the paths from the second village to the rest were temporarily closed.  We hiked an alternate route up the mountain side and down to Corniglia, the third village.  From there we trained to the last two villages, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.  In Manarola we sat down for a nice lunch and enjoyed a pesto pasta dish (Cinque Terre is known for having amazing pesto).  My favorite village was Vernazza, where Chris and I cliff dove into the Mediterranean Sea from roughly 20-25 feet up!

I realize the dive does not look that impressive...but when you are up there, it is awfully high to be diving head first into unknown water... It was a huge thrill!
